Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel or the airport at 7:45 a.m. We'll drive to the base of Ngong Hills, where the hiking journey will start.
Upon arrival at around 9:00 a.m., you'll begin hiking through the series of peaks that make up the iconic Ngong Hills. Our experienced guides will provide fascinating insights into the history and significance of the area.
The hike kicks off from Ngong town at the northern foot of the hills, standing at 1,961 meters above sea level, and spans the entire range to the southern end at Kona Baridi. This trek typically takes about 4 to 5 hours to complete. The initial kilometer from Ngong Police Station involves a gradual ascent through local settlements until reaching the entry barrier of the Ngong Hills forest reserve. From this point, the trail passes a wind farm and leads up the first steep hill, where you'll find radio repeater station masts.
The trail narrows and dips into a valley before climbing to the next hill. Just as you conquer one hill, another appears, each offering its own challenge but also rewarding you with spectacular views. If you're fortunate, you might spot buffalo around the fourth hill, thanks to the dense bushes at the higher altitudes. To the right, you’ll have breathtaking views of the Great Rift Valley, while the City of Nairobi lies to your far left.
The hike concludes at 1:00 p.m., after which you will depart from Ngong Hills and return to Nairobi, having experienced one of Kenya's most scenic and invigorating trails.
